Dr. James Quo-Ping Lin received his M.S. degree in Computer Science and Ph.D. degree in Engineering Management from University of Missouri-Rolla in 1989 and 1994 respectively. Since Sept. 2003, Dr. Lin has been Director of the Information Management System Center, National Palace Museum (NPM), where he guides further development of information technology at the museum. He is currently involved in the development of three large-scale projects, namely, Digital Archives, Digital Museum and Digital Learning at NPM.

Dr. Linās academic specialty lies in management information system, marketing information system, data analysis and design, as well as e-business. He has produced a variety of publications, including books on marketing information system, journal theses and lecture articles. He worked at the National Tax Administration of Taipei and held managerial positions at various companies in Taiwan and abroad. Till 2003, he was Chairman and Association Professor, Department of Information Management at Huafan University, and he is Adjunct Associate Professor, Department of Information Management, National Taipei College of Business. He was also an active member of the Creative Education Consultant Committee under the auspices of the Ministry of Education. The success of the recent SIMD, Summit of International Museum Directors: New Images, New Strategies and F@imp.2004, Festival Audiovisuel International MusŽes & Patrimoine can, in large part, be attributed to Dr. Linās efforts, expertise and experience.
