Mr. Tien-Yu Hsu is Associate Research Fellow, Department of Information Science, National Museum of Natural Science (NMNS), and is also a Ph.D. candidate of Computer and Information Science Department, National Chiao Tung University. He visited the Purdue University for multimedia systems, Canadian Museum of Civilization for digital museum project in the fall of 1995, and the National Science Museum and the National Museum of Ethnology of Japan for digital archives project in the winter of 2003. His research interests include digital libraries, digital museums, multimedia database, mobile learning and knowledge management. He has planned and conducted many computerization projects including collection management information systems, networking systems, and multimedia systems since 1991. He was also involved in the Digital Museum Projects funded by the National Science Council from 1999 to 2001.

Currently he is managing the five-year National Archives Digitization Project of NMNS, one of the nine institutional projects of the National Digital Archives Program. He plans to construct an integrated infrastructure to manage the entire museumâs abundant digital knowledge assets and to create various value-added applications and services to meet the needs of NMNS from its long-term perspective.
