Conference Overview

All year long, you've been tapping into the incredible insights and experience of the MCN community through its Email Listserv, Website and Special Interest Groups (SIGs).

Now's your chance to meet up with all those brilliant colleagues in person at the annual conference in Austin, Texas Oct 27-30, 2010!

This year's innovative program has two great opportunities to get involved:

Papers, panels, round-tables, workshops and showcases on the theme of I/O: The Museum Inside-Out/Outside-In
And if your proposal doesn't fit there, why not organize a session in our "slow un-conference," Seizing the Tiger by the Longtail. [So just what is an un-conference?]

And what better time to help "keep Austin weird" than Halloween? Live music capital of the world, Austin is also famed for its extravagant Day of the Dead celebrations that showcase the creativity of its locals and visitors alike for days on end. Austin will welcome us with some of the best food in America and super comfortable digs at the Sheraton Austin at The Capitol.

Presentation Formats

Individual Paper: 20-30 min presentation; optional written paper (5,000 words) or wiki contribution
Case Study Showcase: 5 minute presentation followed by break-out discussions
Complete Panel: 3-4 presenters united by a common theme
Roundtable: moderated discussion of a theme without formal presentations by panelists
Half-Day Workshop: hands-on learning activity for smaller groups
Full-Day Workshop: hands-on learning activity for smaller groups
Demos: for non-profits who want to demonstrate and road test their new digital programs, products and initiatives with conference attendees
Unconference Session: ad hoc & informal, unconference sessions allow us to address very focused topics and specific needs [So just what is an un-conference?]
Other... surprise and inspire us!

If the topic or problem you most urgently need to discuss with your peers and experts in the field is not covered by the scheduled papers and sessions, then consider proposing an un-conference session through this wiki and MCN's program committee will help bring together the conference's brightest and most experienced minds for your un-conference session.

Submission Guidelines

The Individual Paper and Case Study Showcase formats are designed for single presenters.
The Complete Panel, Roundtable, and Workshop formats are designed for more than one presenter. For these formats, please supply the names of all presenters – even if tentative or unconfirmed. For any unconfirmed presenters, please indicate "unconfirmed" in parentheses after the last name.
Unconference sessions can be proposed on the MCN2010 Wiki. A program committee member will help facilitate the development of your unconference session and any publication/documentation that comes out of it.
NOTE: Priority will be given to submissions with all necessary fields complete. Submissions with unspecified presenters will not be considered.
