MCN 2012 | Tours

Two behind-the-scenes Seattle tours are scheduled for Wednesday, November 7.  Take the opportunity to meet your Seattle collegues and explore what's going on at these two institutions. Both tours are from 3-4:30 pm and require a $25 registration fee. Meet at the hotel Hospitality Desk at 2:30 pm. Tours are limited to 20 people. Questions about tours? Contact conference@mcn.edu.

The tour will provide a behind-the-scenes look at the technology used for exhibits and exhibition design of the recently opened Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Visitor Center. The Gates Foundation Visitor Center is a public space where you can see and learn about the foundation's work and its efforts to help people around the world live healthy and productive lives. When you visit, you will find interactive exhibits and information that tell compelling stories of the work of the foundation’s grantees and partners blended with an optimistic experience that encourages both reflection and action, inspiring you to get involved.
The Bill and Melinda Gates Visitor Center tours are free of charge. The fee for this tour is to cover MCN administrative costs for managing the tour. 
 

EMP Museum

EMP’s curatorial director and chief technology officer will give a behind-the-scenes tour of EMP Museum, providing a detailed look at how technology is used throughout the museum. This will include a look at exhibits, including Nirvana: Taking Punk to the Masses and Can’t Look Away: The Lure of Horror Film; the new 60’ x 35’ HD LED screen in our grand hall, Sky Church; the tech used to power Sound Lab, where visitors play guitar, bass, keyboards and drums; and On Stage, our high-tech version of karaoke, where you can rock out and take home a souvenir poster and DVD or your performance.
